Trevor Linden moved from wing to center for the Vancouver Canucks? It was an excellant move! Why can't Elias Petterrson? Sit back, grab you favorite inhalant, and I'll explain...... HUGE DIFFERENCE between Peterson and Linden (because I get where you're coming from) is this. When covering the slot in the D zone SIZE MATTERS, its the most important place on the ice to cover and being small makes that job more difficult, also the "wear down" factor is huge, centers have a really hard job in the D zone which also includes covering behind the net, it leaves them open to all kinds of punishment. Its the same reason Peterson's SEL team kept him on the wing, even in that league a smaller, non-aggressive player, even one who is 100% committed to doing his job is going to get worn out. There are smaller centers who are aggressive and secretly nasty that have figured out how to do it, Marc Savard comes to mind, other guys in the past just DIDN'T DO IT Remember...

Whaa...? Don't tell me Benning has been extended? That's a death sentence. I never planned to move away from following the team, but just find myself with better things to do than watch their games. They aren't exciting, emotional, or ballsy...they aren't sore losers, The Sedins want to keep their parking spots at the country club, the people running this thing think that what we want is "THE PLAYOFFS" and is willing to sign every Vanek and Del Zotto down-and-outer every summer in a misguided attempt to do it. They don't get it, it's not "THE PLAYOFFS" fans want, Hockey is cyclical, one era ends, you go down you come up, a new era with hungry new payers with new personalities come up. THOSE guys take their shot, That whole ride is part of enjoying the story of following an NHL franchise, it's no different than a movie, you need act 1 act 2 and act 3 sometimes (all the time with this team) the story ends up a trage...

Alex Edler.....just let that sink in, If this guy wasn't born to be a Canuck, then Vancouver's cost of living is do-able. At times, the guy has looked like he's had it all: The shot, pin-point passing, size, hits, PP point production, we've seen it all from Edler, his recent years have shown him to be in decline, but even at his best, there was something....off about the guy... Not off, as in, he seems like a bad person, I don't know him but certainly, don't believe him to be anything of the sort.  By "Off" I mean, as in: "This guy is fantasic.....but, I'm not 100% convinced he CARES" Edler as far as pro athletes are concerned has a bit of an issue, it wasn't so bad when he was doing extraordinary things, but now in the twilight of his career, it's become a real problem for the team. The problem is this: Edler is lazy, he's always been lazy (I once had to hold the door for him in Blaine because he was talkin...

I have feelings too you know,  Maybe not about other people (I was raised in Vancouver, I have to be at least PART sociopath, right?) but when you tease me about hockey......man, that's crossing a line. (Does it cross the: Sue Canada for 10.5 Million in Bumhurt damages line? If a terrorist can do it, why can't I?) No one seems to enjoy line crossing these days more than Toronto Maple Leafs fans, especially when talking to (Laughing, taunting etc.) observers of the Vancouver Canucks (see what I did there?) They like it when AUSTON MATHEWS receives a pass at the opposition blue line, or when AUSTON MATHEWS shot crosses the goal line, they like lines on scrap paper because it gives them somewhere to write AUSTON MATHEWS name, And most of all the like the "Comments" line on message boards, they LOVE that line, that's where they get to remind Canucks "associates" how their team had rebuilt the right way, while our team hired a talking monkey. O...

Ahh, summer! It's not all bad for the hockey fan..the sun is shining, the sky is blue the Parrots are chirping.........wha?.... Yes Parrots, y'know, the ones who pick up on whatever issue the media feeds them along with one of two sanctioned opinions? Then they act out the same argument they saw on TV in bars and beaches the world over. Take "Tanking" for instance, Listening to Vancouver Canuck fans it would almost seem as if they think they are having a totally fresh and original conversation and not reading off the script assigned to them by whatever sports talk show they heard it first on. The arguments become so emotional one occasionally feels like tapping one of the combatants on the shoulder and reminding them: This is the entertainment biz.....period, If some are more entertained by watching the intricacies, intrigue and "what goes down must come up" realities of building a team who might conceivably win a championship, who are you to tell...

Oh I hear you out there.... No quite courageous enough to own it but snickering behind the backs of all us pragmatists, mocking us, taking the piss, as the English would say.....and why would you see fit to mock such uber-reasonable folk such as myself? Because the Frigging Canucks have won a couple of games. Now save you I told you so for the VD clinic, you never told me NUTHIN' and in fact what is happening is what I and others have been telling you would happen since before the beginning of the season, Yes, that's right, this is still WORST CASE SCENARIO The worst thing that can happen to this team this year is not finishing dead last, all who still have a brain cell or two functioning know that. The worst thing that could;d happen is EXACTLY what is happening, The Canucks are making a valiant and heroic push to the middle of the pack, where they will, and I guarantee this, miss the playoffs But......but....we are building a cultu...
