God, I am sick of people whining about the draft lottery and tanking. No system is perfect, nothing in the world is...sorry to break that news to you so late in life but this is THE BEST WAY TO ENSURE A CYCLING OF THE TOP TEAMS,  that is to say, that a team that sucked last season will be on the road to improving next season, What's your alternative? The worst teams have no realistic way of improving? Can you not see the inevitable outcome of that? Franchise retraction, closing of businesses, loss of jobs, shrinking of the hockey market Now guess what? As much as I can't stand Benning and do not believe he is intelligent enough to GM an NHL team and am appalled by his 90's buy-a-team approach which has been proven over and over not to work..........I don't mind this signing (But we still need to do Tanev for Reinhart) Gagner has always confused me, he's had soooo many people dump on him through out his career and I don't understand why (I think it started with the Oilers using him as a scapegoat for their failures but I don't understand why it has continued) The guy always puts up some points, I believe is a good skater (unless I'm mistaken) and though he's no tough guy, he will drop the gloves to protect his teammates (usually once or twice a year) and , he's well thought of and a good guy off the ice, plays the game hard and honest, gives you 100% of what he has..... .....Did I just describe Trevor Linden or what?
