The NHL and "NU-THINK" branding....THOU SHALT NOT TANK!

Ahh, summer! It's not all bad for the hockey fan..the sun is shining, the sky is blue the Parrots are chirping.........wha?.... Yes Parrots, y'know, the ones who pick up on whatever issue the media feeds them along with one of two sanctioned opinions? Then they act out the same argument they saw on TV in bars and beaches the world over. Take "Tanking" for instance, Listening to Vancouver Canuck fans it would almost seem as if they think they are having a totally fresh and original conversation and not reading off the script assigned to them by whatever sports talk show they heard it first on. The arguments become so emotional one occasionally feels like tapping one of the combatants on the shoulder and reminding them: This is the entertainment biz.....period, If some are more entertained by watching the intricacies, intrigue and "what goes down must come up" realities of building a team who might conceivably win a championship, who are you to tell...

The Vancouver Canucks could use Eddie Lack back, and he might just be availlable

"....and maybe you could do something besides write negative shit about the team" It seemed so long ago those words (A generous paraphrase but the intent, and the colorful language, were his) rocked Twitter. At least those lonely corners of it inhabited by fans of the Vancouver Canucks. It was a shocking moment indeed, not that a pro athlete would swear via Twitter, in this day and age we are used to so much worse, but because through years of media awareness and "Fan sensitivity" training the way NHL players deal with fans is about as warm and organic as a Chinese blow up doll (I would imagine) To have a NHL player interact with a fan and express real fire, real emotion, to reveal he REALLY CARED the way fans do, was quite possibly unprecedented in modern pro sports,, And this PR jewel? Man of the people? Marketable personality that while occupying the least glamorous role a hockey team has to offer, shone out like the first sunny morning of spring. Why he wa...
