NHL trade: Canucks Ben Hutton to Bruins. The curse of the Vancouver Canucks, abandon all hope ye who enter.

In the wake of "breaking news" that perhaps the Boston Bruins could be looking to deal for Vancouver Canuck, Ben Hutton, there has been some debate amongst non-Vancouver fans as to what Ben Hutton could be worth, and would that price be enough to cover breakfast at Tim Horton's?

They tell us who have watched him they don't understand how he could be worth more than whatever you might be liable to scape of your shoes after walking the dog.

So let's talk "Understanding" shall we?

What YOU are failing to understand, that your GM is quite aware of, and will be the mitigating factor in any potential deal (So you might as well get used to it is this:

Hutton was up until this year, and up and coming D man. He was considered one of this organization few bright spots. His play developed, it got BETTER, many were excited to see how good it could get...

Enter the Vancouver Canucks, They F**k with their own players creating weird self-destructive drama and building obstacles to their own success, I could blame this management group, and I'd be correct, however, this tradition of slitting your own throat goes back way before I was even born,

I couldn't tell you who started it or when but I know it's existed since I've watched the team. To be honest, I think it was born in the 70's when the team was happy just to exist and never made any serious attempt at being a team to take seriously.

But it was there when Pavel Bure arrived in town and he was left to starve for three days (I actually think Linden ended up picking him up, which is funny considering they aren't considered buddies) Even though Patt Quin and Brian Burke had "stolen" him in the draft, by falsifying game reports, they still wanted "To teach that little Russian s**t h**d to mind his goddamn manners"

It happened when Patt Quin called Gretzky in the middle of the night demanding an answer to whether he was signing. He was going to, after that phone call, he changed his mind.

It happened when the team was turned over to arch enemy Mike Keenan, who proceeded to alienate and trade one of the few players who took pride in the Canucks Uniform and was respected in the city for his charity work, thus creating a huge amount of goodwill between team and fans,

It happened when the team made a certain player captain, who it could be suspected, was part of a greater conspiracy to move the team to Seattle, never has a player alienated the fans of the city he plays in to the degree Mark Messier did. He made little effort to hide his contempt for the city, fans, his level of effort was appalling. I have never seen anything like Messier's tenure in Vancouver either before or since, it was like having an opposing player take a position on your team and work towards it's ultimate destruction.

It happened when a woefully un-NHL ready Jake Virtanen was kept up in the NHL for a flop of a rookie season, where his most remarkable accomplishment was doing lines with prodigious assh**e Jared McCann and prodigious Jarred McCann, Justin Beiber.

It happened two years later when a now prepared Virtanen, scored at will in the preseason, showing he was finally ready for the big leagues and new coach Travis Green did everything possible to drain him of confidence and keep him out of situations where he might prove himself.

It happened when rookie superstar Brock Boesser was inexplicably benched for the first two games of the season, inspiring a near full-on revolt by season ticket holders. It should be noted that Green was pegged as an offensive superstar, but he never was able to live up to the hype and hung onto a lower tier NHL job by becoming a non-descript checker. Green spent much of the early season trying to slow Jake and Brock down When Brock exploded out of the gate and everyone was telling green what an idiot he was, he took the opportunity to really put the screws to Virtanen, now that Brock was untouchable.

You can see it in the GM record of Jim Benning, a man so woefully unqualified for his job, that you almost feel sorry for him.

And you see it in Ben Hutton, lost amidst the shuffle, a guy showing the signs of becoming as Travis Hamonic type player, inexplicably and without warning, he has the breaks thrown at him.

If you treat someone like a 4th liner long enough they are going to start playing like one.

A few names like Horvat and Boesser are now "un-F**kable" but beyond that, most young players would do well to get as far from Vancouver as humanly possible.

And if they do, they might surprise you.
