The Vancouver Canucks and P.R propaganda, it's time fans knew what "Astroturfing" means
Have you noticed you are going crazy?
That an increasing number of fans seem to be trying to convince you that a black wall is painted white and vice versa?
That a lot of fans these days seem to be arguing AGAINST their own best interests?
Well, never fear, though you may well be crazy, it has nothing to do with how you are seeing the team and those fans arguing against their own interests?........shhh......they aren't fans, those are P.R groups hired to "Astroturf" and promote the company line while posing as fans, more on that later.
I recently read a fan comment about how hard it was to do anything significant in Vancouver where people have so many other options for entertainment (obviously they haven't realized they are living in No-fun city yet, or perhaps it's an Indian call center that doesn't live here at all.Z)
Nonus couldn't have said it better himself
That's the difference between the Benning/Nonus's and the Burke/Quin's of this world
The first group will constantly tell you how hard it is to do anything, make low-risk or downright silly moves, then make excuses for their ineptitude or lack of action.
The second group loosens their ties or lights a cigar and MAKES something happen, I'm sure you know what Burke had to do to get the Sedins? he gambled with EVERYTHING, until right up to the 11th hour, he may have gone home without his job, but he was willing to risk it because he knows that's what you have to do. On another note, do you know what Quin had to do to get Bure? Did you know he had to falsify documents and essentially pull a huge fast one on the entire NHL? Did you know that when he called Bure's name opposing GM's stormed the stage at the draft in protest and fists almost flew AT THE DRAFT PODIUM, Did you know Pat Quinn could care less what you thought of his tactics? He, like protoge, Burke knew this was a dirty league and the only people who win are either extremely lucky (That excludes the Canucks right there) or have Grapefruits the size of bowling balls?
I don't recall seeing many profiles around Canuck Message boards until the Canucks PR team needed some help arguing its case, so don't be sure you are always speaking to an individual. Verry odd to hear a fan be a corporate apologist against his own interests.
Should you encounter one ask them point blank, are you even a fan? Or are you here as part of an "Astroturfing" campaign to try and sway the public towards what management wants them to belive? Do you get paid to do this?
For those not familiar with the term, I'd suggest you read this and read it carefully:
